Mr. Barnes died of a stroke Saturday in a Vancouver care center. He was 73.
Born Sept. 19, 1919, in Portland, Mr. Barnes was a carpenter for 15 years for the Port of Vancouver prior to his retirement in 1981. He had lived in the Vancouver area since 1949.
Mr. Barnes served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Frances ''Fran'' of Vancouver; daughter, Karen J. Wall of Federal Way; brother, Eldon H. of Portland; and three grandchildren.
The family suggests remembrances be contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Oregonian, Wednesday, June 2, 1993
