John Joseph Conrad, Jr., 97, was born November 25, 1920 in Forsyth County to the late John Joseph Conrad and Pearl Beroth Conrad.

Mr. Conrad served in the U.S. Army and was a combat veteran of WWII.

He was a loving and well respected husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Conrad retired from I.L. Long Construction after 40 years of service at age 90 and was a Deacon and longtime member of Robinhood Road Baptist Church.

Mr. Conrad was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Maxine Martin Conrad; daughter, Carolyn Conrad Shoaf; son, John J. Conrad, III; brothers, Hillus Conrad, Richard Conrad; sisters, Julia Windsor, Lulu Haga, and Edna Hicks.

He is survived by granddaughter, Vandee Gilbert of Pfafftown; grandson, John Shoaf, Jr. (Michelle) of Lewisville; great grandson, Adam Shoaf of Winston-Salem; and a sister, Lilly Hicks of Lewisville; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Robinhood Road Baptist Church with Rev. John Hackworth, Jr. officiating. A graveside committal service will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. Family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
