Wilbur H. Wilkins, 100, of Lansing, IA, formerly of Decorah, IA and New Albin, IA, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Thornton Manor Care Center in Lansing. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 23rd at 11:00 am at Glenwood Lutheran Church in rural Decorah, with Pastor Douglas Mathison officiating. Burial will be held in Council Hill Cemetery in rural Monona, IA. Friends may call from 2:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, IA
Wilbur Henry Wilkins was born on December 28, 1906 in rural Monona, the son of Thomas Edward and Laura Hannah (Kaiser) Wilkins. He attended "Irish Ridge" country school rural Monona. Wilbur farmed in Clayton County for several years. On February 20, 1927 he married Nina Cahoon. She died in 1947. On February 7, 1949 he married Marian Lovstuen. They farmed in the Glenwood area rural Decorah for 34 years. They were divorced in 1979. Wilbur retired in 1978 when he moved to New Albin, IA. On September 4, 1980 he married Sarah (Conway) Wargin in Waukon. He has been a resident at Thornton Manor Care Center since 2003. Wilbur was a member of Glenwood Lutheran Church and the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking. Wilbur also traveled through out the United States and the World.
