Hilda Faye Midkiff Adams, 85, of Centerville, Texas passed away on June 5, 2018 in College Station, Texas.

Hilda was born in Bedias, Texas on April 5, 1933. She was the only daughter of four children, including brothers, Herbert, Harlin Ray & Harold, born to Elton & Blanch (Brown) Midkiff. She was raised and spent much of her young adult life in Houston. Hilda married Floyd Adams, Jr. in 1951, and they shared sixty wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2011.

Hilda always took an active role in each community in which she lived. She was a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge #193 in Madisonville, Texas, as well as, a past Worthy Matron. While living in Madisonville, she served as the Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce. She also owned and operated the Credit Bureau in Madisonville. Additionally, she was the owner and operator of the Fiesta Motel in Centerville, Texas, and a former city council member. Hilda will always be well remembered as a long-time patron of the local Town Café in Centerville. There were not many days when one wouldn’t find Hilda at her table with the comfortable chairs, near the counter, having her lunch or visiting with the other regular café diners.

Hilda was an avid reader and lived thousands of lives through her countless stories. She was also an avid supporter of the local law enforcement and fire department. Hilda always counted her family a blessing. She was a proud mother to two successful sons and “Nanny” to five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Hilda was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Centerville and had lived in the Leon and Madison County areas since 1977, coming from Brazoria County.

Hilda was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Floyd Adams, Jr.; brother, Herbert Midkiff and brother, Harlin Ray Midkiff. She is survived by her brother, Harold “Tex” Midkiff and his wife, LaJuana Midkiff; son, Jimmy Adams; son, John Adams and wife, Teena Adams; grandson, Terry Duque and wife, Cassie Duque; grandson, Clint Adams and wife, Heather Adams; grandson, Cody Adams and fiancé, Hailey Spates; granddaughter, Courtney Swor and husband, Taylor Swor; grandson, Colton Adams; great granddaughter, Paris Donavan; great grandson, Brady Duque; great granddaughter, Mabry Duque; great grandson, Ashton Adams; great grandson, Owen Adams; as well as, numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Also surviving are special friends, Brian Stafford, Cara Glaze-Adams, Becky Adams, Jeanelle Mathis, and Kathy Johnson.

Visitation will be at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, TX. Funeral services will be held at Walters Funeral Home with Hilda’s nephew, Rev. Mike Midkiff and Bro. Louis Mize officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Concord, Texas. Pallbearers: Terry Duque, Clint Adams, Cody Adams, Colton Adams, Taylor Swor, Mike Guerin. Honorary Pallbearers: Brian Stafford, Greg Bain, Randy Ellis, Charles Smith, Randy Mathis.
