James Fred Lappin, 84 Years, of Sesser, Illinois passed away at 6:28 P.M. May 27, 2018 at his place of residence. He was born June 26, 1933 in Nason, Illinois to the late Joe and Maudie (Wolward) Lappin. He was married to Barbara Ann Eads until she preceded him in death in March of 1998.
Fred is survived by his children, Elizabeth and husband, Daniel Shaw of Tamaroa, Illinois, Rex Lappin of Mulkeytown, Illinois, Shawn Lappin of Sesser, Illinois, Tiffany Lappin of Sesser, Illinois, and Terra Hale of Tamaroa, Illinois; 8 grandchildren, Miranda Johnson, Ashton Lappin, Candace Shaw, Kaitlyn Lappin, Stetson Lappin, Shi-Anne Lappin, Saylor Lappin, and Kodee Crispin; 2 great grandchildren, Brooklyn Ann Lappin, and Caiden Michael Montana Stanfield; brother, Jerry and wife, Mary Lappin of Scheller, Illinois; 3 sisters, Linda and husband, Bob Frisch of Scheller, Illinois, Joanne Frick of Nason, Illinois, and Brenda and husband, Dennis Best of Texas; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 4 brothers, Ernie Lappin, Danny Lappin, Bert Lappin, and Melton Lappin; 2 sisters, Sybil Sledge; and Wanda Weills.
Fred was a coal miner for Thirty years at the Freeman #6 Mine in Waltonville, Illinois. He loved pulling Draft horses. Fred dropped out of school at a young age to help his father on the family farm. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
