Doris E. Albrecht, 91, of Pigeon passed peacefully to her eternal home on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe where she resided for the past 5 years.

She was born October 25, 1926 at home on the farm in Fairhaven Twp to the late Mose and Mary E. (Gunden) Albrecht. She is survived by her sister-in-law Alice of Bay Port; three nieces: Linda (Joe) Christophel of Goshen, IN, Suzanne (Eugene) Gascho of Pigeon and Starla (Kevin) McKenzie of Elkton; three nephews: John (Dottie) of Mantua, OH, Kevin (Jan) of Fort Dodge, IA and Barry (Cheryl) of Sebewaing; great nieces and great nephews: Jennifer, Jon, Susan, Jeremy, Kyle, Jalissa, Kayleen, Gabrielle, Beth, Rachel, Jay, Kelsey, Caitlin, Brittany, Erin, and Ashlyn; and 3 great-great nieces and three great great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John, Melvin and Lyle, infant brother Theodore and infant sister Alice.

Doris attended Snell School. As a young adult she lived in Goshen, Indiana and Midland. In 1967 she moved to Southern California with three friends where she enjoyed living for nearly 20 years. While there she especially enjoyed working for the Garland family. She recalled the California years as being some of her most rewarding. She returned to Pigeon in 1984 to care for her aged mother.

Doris will be remembered by her family and friends as caring, thrifty and loyal. She enjoyed travel, family gatherings, hosting, outings with cousins and friends, games, quilting, reading and television. She had good health her whole life until her last five years. Doris’ pleasant demeanor and gracious spirit remained with her throughout the challenges of aging. She taught us well and will be greatly missed.

A celebration of her life will be 11:00am Saturday, May 26th at Pigeon River Mennnonite Church with Pastor Ken Dietzel officiating. Burial will be in Pigeon River Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00am Saturday and continue until the time of the service at church. Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Courtney Manor-Activity Fund or Pigeon River Kids Choir.
