Mary Gertrude Drury, 77, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2011 at her residence. Mary was born on December 20, 1933 in Washington, D.C.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Elwood Drury, her parents, William Russell Rusmisel and Mautie Mola Kincaid Rusmisel, her mother-in-law, Lillian "Big Nanny" Drury, her brother, Moe Rusmisel, her son, Jody Drury, her daughter, Sharon Drury Edelen, and her daughter-in-law, Mary F. Drury.

Mary was very family oriented and always made time for sisters, brothers, adopted/extended family, friends and even friends of family. She loved all of her children and grandchildren, and was a nanny to everyone. Mary enjoyed time on the beach and surf fishing at Hatteras North Carolina where she caught a record puppy drum. Mary was also an avid reader and she enjoyed her coffee. After retirement as an insurance underwriter, Mary worked for St. Mary's County Public Schools as a lunch substitute.

Mary is survived by her son, Michael Drury, her 2 daughters, Valerie J. Jenkins and Buttons Rose, her son-in-laws Ricky Jenkins and Jessey Rose, daughter-in-law Sherri Drury Waid, her brother, Near Rusmisel, her 2 sisters, Audrey Stanton and Anna Buechling, her 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and extended family members Flint and Kevin Hardesty with many other family and friends too numerous to list.

The family will receive friends for a Life Celebration on Thursday October 20, 2011 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM (and) from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Prayers with Deacon Kyte will be held at 7:00PM at The Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home in Charlotte Hall. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM on Friday October 21, 2011 at Immaculate Conception, 28297 Old Village Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, MD 20601.

The Pallbearers are: Ricky Jenkins, Joe Jenkins, Jimi Drury, Terry Jenkins, Jody Rose, Jimi Thompson, Roscoe Kreps, and Flint Hardesty.

The Honorary Pallbearers are: Woody Drury and Toby Drury.
