Funeral services for Mr. Alton Buel Boyd, 81, of Tylertown, will be held at 1 P. M. on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Wicker officiating. Burial will be in the Tylertown II Cemetery.

Mr. Boyd passed away at Wesley Medical Center on Saturday, May 19, 2018. He was born August 19, 1936 in Walthall County, Mississippi to the late Alton Parker Boyd and Lexie Viola Martin Boyd. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers J. C. Boyd, Joe Henry Boyd, and Louis Edward Boyd.



He was a member of Salem Baptist Church where he served as a deacon from his ordination in 1962 until the past few years when his health no longer allowed him to serve. He had also served on the Walthall County Farm Bureau Board, the Walthall County School Board, and as Election Commissioner. He was a retired dairy farmer. He enjoyed working on the farm, special projects, camping, sports, and Bluegrass festivals. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.



Survivors include his wife of 61 years Polly Sue Rushing Boyd; sons Marcus Buel Boyd (Rena), and Alex Alton Boyd (Sherri); daughter Corenda Lynn Bedwell; brother Glyn Parker Boyd (Amanda); grandchildren Heather Boyd, Jennifer Bobb (Kirk), Keith Boyd, Steven Bedwell, and Ariana Harrison (Andrew); and great-grandchildren Taylor Bobb, Preslea Bobb, Haley Boyd, Carlee Boyd, Ryleigh Boyd, Lily Harrison, and Leia Harrison.



Pallbearers will be Kirk Bobb, Jimmy Holmes, Lynn Holmes, Stanley Brumfield, Andrew Harrison, and Everett McElveen. Special Honorary Pallbearers will be Keith Boyd, Steven Bedwell, and Taylor Bobb. Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of Salem Baptist Church and Members of The Last Class Sunday School class.



Visitation will be at Salem Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. until service time there at 1:00 P.M.
