HOMER OLIVER PACKNETT DIES AT SULPHUR
Funeral Rites Held In Idabel Tuesday Afternoon

Homer Oliver Packnett passed away at 7:30 a. m. Sunday at the U. S. Veterans hospital in Sulphur where he had been under treatment the past few months. He was 41 years and 11 months old.

Funeral rites were held Tuesday at 3 p. m. at the Coffey chapel with Rev. Joe R. Baker, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating.

A choir composed of Mrs. Roy Hodges, Mrs. T. G. Lacefield, Mrs. E. M. Fulmer, Sr., Miss Margaret Stamps, Mrs. Guy R. Old and W. A. Finney, sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus", and "Jesus Lover of My Soul." A solo, "The Haven of Rest," was sung by W. A. Finney. Mrs. J. R. Waters was accompanist.

Burial was made in Denison cemetery. Pallbearers were George Beeman, Bryant Clegg, Lonnie Cook, Calvin Holloway, Robert Bonner, and Pvt. Joe Johnson.

Mr. Packnett received a medical discharge from the U. S. Army in June, 1943, after serving several months overseas. He underwent a major operation in December, 1942, at Hilo, Hawaii, where he was stationed. He had been promoted to sergeant.

Mr. and Mrs. Packnett were united in marriage on April 8, 1934. They owned and operated the Royal cafe until recently. Mrs. Packnett was in charge of the business during the time Mr. Packnett was in the army.

Mr. Packnett was a member of the First Baptist church and American Legion. He was born and reared at Eagletown.

Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Ocia Packnett; two daughters, Mrs. John Paul Sessions and Miss Gwendolyn Ida Packnett, Idabel; mother, Mrs. Mary Belle Packnett, Idabel; father, John R. Packnett, Eagletown; one sister, Mrs. Ernest Ferguson, Hugo; three brothers, C. T. Packnett and William S. Packnett, Idabel, and J. R. Packnett, Jr., U. S. Army, Abilene, Texas; three half-brothers, Percy Packnett, U. S. Army, Philipines; Lloyd Packnet, Eagletown; Jesse Packnett, U. S. Navy, New Guinea; three half-sisters, Mrs. Davis Curley, Idabel; Mrs. George Godwin, Wilburton, and Gladys Jean Packnett, Eagletown.
