My great grandfather worked as an accountant/bookkeeper for American Steel & Wire in Cleveland, Ohio. He was also a piano teacher. Jack's great-niece, Edna Lu, recalls him playing the piano and "all of us singing 'Beer Barrel Polka,'" and that he could "pound out any tune." He played in several taverns, including a club in Parma, and also at Fickel's Tavern in Wickliffe (owned by his brother-in-law Frank, Mayor of Wickliffe). Jack died of a heart attack while he and Dorothy were out driving, passing away within minutes of the onset. Jack had blue eyes and light red hair, was slender and of medium build.

He married my great grandma Dorothy Mae Froelich on 11 April 1917 in Cleveland, Ohio and they had a daughter, Jean.

Obituary: "John B. Davies, residence 4949 West 220th St, beloved husband of Dorothy M. (nee Froelich), father of Mrs. Jean Harnett, grandfather of Jacqueline and Marilyn, brother of Mrs. Blodwin Kovatch, Charlotte Hansen, Mrs. Matilda Hartman of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Lillian Fickel, Mrs. Ethel Bryant, Edna L. of Detroit, MI, and Arthur H. Davies; died Monday pm. Friends may call at the Charles A. Mandley Funeral Home, 15480 Triskett Rd on Lorain Ave, where services will be held Thursday, August 23rd at 1:30pm."
