Donald was the husband of Irene Felton until her death in 1954 and then Lucille Miller. He was father to Francis Maust and Mary Margaret Maust Kimmell Forespring. He and his brothers, Ward and Dwight Maust, were partners in the Maust Brothers Trucking Company which served the entirety of Somerset County hauling fertilizer, farm produce, heating coal and other products. The business also developed to include tire distribution and general car repair. It was ultimately sold in the late 1970's. Donald was an advid horseman, owning and riding several different breeds over his life.
