Ruby was born February 25, 1931 in Texas County, MO, in the rural area of the small town Raymondville, MO. She lived 9 miles east of there on a small farm with her parents, John and Rosetta Brackett until 1945. Then as a girl went away to work in Kansas City, KS. It is there that she met her husband Thomas Crank Jr. They were married in a small church in the Bethel neighborhood Center Baptist Church on May 12, 1947. Ruby and Charles bought a small home at 912 Lions Street, Kansas City, KS. They lived there for 14 years and then in 1957 they bought a 40 acre farm and built a new ranch home 5 ½ miles north of Tonganoxie, KS. They moved into the new home on June 3, 1961.
They were the proud parents of three sons Dennis Michael Crank, born October 14, 1950; the second Martin Dwight Crank, born July 10, 1956; the third Kevin Mitchel Crank, September 19, 1959. All three sons were born at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. Martin Dwight Crank preceded her in death as an infant.
Ruby loved where she lived and was always happy there. She loved her church and the life she built around the West Haven Baptist Church, Tonganoxie. She was a member there for many years and was proud to be a small part of helping to build the church. She was a Sunday school teacher for small children from 1961-1971 there.
She loved being with family, best of all she loved having family members and relatives & friends in her home. She loved flowers and rocks and was considered a “rock hound”. She was a nature enthusiast who especially enjoyed streams and fishing. She was also a big fan of baseball.
