Betty Jane Katch, age 91, formerly of Green Bay, WI and Oconto, WI passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Rennes East Nursing Center in Peshtigo, Wis. She was born on Aug. 3, 1926, in Gillett, Wis., to Clara (Olson) and Robert W. Behnke.

Betty Jane later moved with her parents to the family farm in the Town of Lessor, Shawano County. Betty Jane attended Wellhaven Grade School and graduated from Pulaski High School, Class of 1944.

On Sept. 6, 1947, she married Chester (Chet) Katch at Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Pulaski.
Betty Jane worked with her husband, Chet, while he managed super markets for Red Owl Stores, Inc.
On Dec. 1, 1959, they purchased the Red Owl franchise in Oconto; owning and operating it until Chet retired. Betty Jane enjoyed doing the accounting for the business. She and Chet moved to Green Bay in 1986. Betty Jane was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Oconto and now of St. Jude Parish in Green Bay. She loved spending time with family and enjoyed making a comfortable and beautiful home and gardens for them to enjoy. Betty Jane dearly loved her grandchildren; especially cooking them delicious meals and beating them at a game of Sheepshead.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Kenneth and Kristine (Gabrielson) Katch; and a daughter and son-in-law: Kathleen and Daniel Cisar. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sara, Brian (Andrea), Keith and Anna Cisar and Matthew (Yoshiko) Katch; a great-granddaughter, Brianna Cisar; a niece, Wanda (Joe) McCarthy; and nephew, Steven Behnke and their families.

Betty Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, on Oct. 30, 2000; an infant son, Keith Mark, in 1961; her parents; a brother, Robert Charles Behnke; and a sister-in-law, Eva Behnke.

Visitation will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1420 Division St., Green Bay, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, May 7; followed by the Mass of Resurrection at 11 a.m., with Rev. Michael Thiel officiating. Burial will be at Fort Howard Memorial Park.
