Norma Jean Maple, age 89 of Brooksville, FL, formerly of Chesterton, IN, passed away on April 11, 2018 in Brooksville, FL.

She was born on January 22, 1929, in Peru, IN, to George William and Evelyn Childers LeMaster, both of whom preceded her in death.

Jean is survived by her husband, Frank Maple of Brooksville, FL, and by her children: Janice (late P. David on March 14, 2018) Pardue of Brooksville, FL, Rea (Bill) Taubert of Porter, IN, Beth (Jeff) Crothers of Chesterton, IN, Terry (Kim) Maple of Chesterton, IN, Maria (Bob) Poparad of Burns Harbor, IN, and Mary (Reg) Bramlett of San Diego, CA. Also surviving are her twenty-five grandchildren: Michelle (Morry) Osborn, Kari (Joel) Wharton, Chad (Lisa) Pardue, Abigail (Elliott) Blount, Cortney (Ryan) Reid, Lauren Pardue, Seth (Megan) Pardue, Lisa (Brad) Gaff, Jaime (Matthew) Smith, Bill (Shelby) Taubert, Kati (Drew) Smith, Lora (Ben) Watkins, Joe (Ashley) Crothers, Erin (Shay) Bozetarnik, Lindsay (Craig) Beatty, Matt (Megan) Maple, Kathleen (Josh) Gerber, Kelley (Mike) Killebrew, Bobby (Kristen) Poparad, Christina (Ken) Albright, Melanie (Jeremy) Kelly, Jessica (Josh) Foote, Janel Bramlett, Julie (Ian) Ravn, and Jasmin (Jason) Hartnell; as well as her fifty-eight great-grandchildren and three little ones on the way in the spring and summer; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jean is also preceded in death by her siblings: Roselyn Einselen, Wilma Shrock, and Arlene Payne.

Jeannie learned to play the piano at the age of five. God blessed her with the ability to play a song after hearing it only once. Jean demonstrated her love for the Lord by sharing her gift of music by playing piano and organ for nearly 60 years at her home churches. At the Maple home, Jeannie always made room at the table for one more, sharing good food and lots of laughter. She enjoyed oil painting, bowling, gardening, sewing, cooking and baking -- most of all she loved her family. She adored her husband, Frank for more than 70 years and was often heard saying "He was the head of the household but she was the neck that turned the head." Jean's children appreciated her ability to make each one feel like they were her favorite. She was delighted by the way God blessed them with so many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11 a.m. at CrossPointe Christian Church, 114 E US-6 Frontage Rd, Valparaiso, IN, with Pastor Tim Wanless officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.
