Hortense-Mr. Homer Layton Anderson,90, of Hortense passed away Saturday evening (May 5, 2018) at his residence after an extended illness.
Mr. Homer was born in Hortense, Georgia and the son of Charlie S. and Gatsy Sloan Anderson.
A retired welder with The CSX Railroad where he had worked many years. An avid fisher and hunter, he also enjoyed watching Westerns and working in his Garden when his health allowed him. Mr. Homer was very much a people person, he loved talking with folks and telling them stories. If you knew him, you loved him, he would always brighten your day.
Preceded in death by his Parents, A-Brother and 3- Sister's, Alli Mae Brauda, J.T. Anderson, Nora Carver and Estues Anderson.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 65 years, Margaret Elizabeth Pierce Anderson, of Hortense, 2-Son's and a Daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Charlene Anderson, of Hickox, Dennis Anderson, of Waynesville, 3-Grandchildren and their spouses, Holly Dawson (Charlie), Layton Anderson (Elizabeth) and
Zac Anderson (Lindsey), 6-Great Grandchildren, Taylor and Heather Dawson, Brooks and Emma Anderson, Cason and Jase Anderson, also several Nieces and nephews and other relatives and a great host of friends.
Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to services.
Funeral Service for Mr. Homer L. Anderson will be Monday morning (May 7, 2018) at 11 A.M. from the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta with Rev. Harold Hand officiating.
Burial will follow in The Hortense Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Layton Anderson, Zac Anderson, Charlie Dawson, Butch Gibson, Gary Middleton and Alan Strickland.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
