Robert Gene Aspseter, the adopted son of Andrew and Helen (Wilson) Aspseter, was born on September 20, 1954 in Fort Wayne Indiana. “Bubba”, the nickname he was given in high school because he was a big boy, graduated in 1972 in Bruce WI. He then enlisted into the United States Army where he served as a medic during the Vietnam War. After his time with the Army, Bubba returned to Wisconsin and married Karen Shock on June 11, 1984 in Chippewa Falls, WI. They raised four children, Mardy, Corey, Andy and Carman. Bubba and his family lived in Wisconsin for 28 years before moving to Mankato, MN and then to Alexandria on August 1, 2001.

Bubba worked as cook for various restaurants in Wisconsin and Minnesota. He worked at La Hacienda in WI and also at the A & W and Arrowwood Deck Bar. He most recently worked at Elden’s Fresh Foods.

Bubba loved kids and interacting with them. He was even known to put on a Santa suit, that went along with his natural white beard and listen to children whisper all the toys and presents they wanted Santa to bring to them on Christmas. Bubba was always a friendly and kind man. He had a great sense of humor and was always ready to tell a joke. Bubba loved hunting and especially fishing. He also loved playing card games, poker and make jewelry with his wife Karen and daughter Carman. Recently he became involved with New Life Christian Church where he attended bible studies and church events.
