Funeral services at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3001 S 6th St, Marshalltown. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Marshalltown.

Velma Rohde Eibs Gunderson was born on August 13, 1925, the daughter of Fred and Emma (Rubenbauer) Rohde in Marshalltown. She attended school in Dillon, Iowa, (LeGrand No 7 Country School) and graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1943. She was a gifted athlete, participating in both basketball and softball.

Velma married Everett Eibs in 1950 and they lived on the family farm in rural Laurel. They were the parents of Steven, Gregory, and Ricki. Everett and Velma divorced after 20 years.

In 2009, she married Robert "Gundy" Gunderson. They were together for over 40 years, living in the Marshalltown area.

Velma was employed in her early career at the Iowa Veteran's Home, Western Grocer Mills, and REA (Consumers Energy). She farmed with Everett for over 20 years and was then employed at Lennox Industries for over 20 years, which she treasured, retiring in 1991. Velma was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, St. John's United Church of Christ in Haverhill, Iowa, and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marshalltown. She was a member of the UCC Ladies Guild, Lennox Management Club, and Bobcat Estates Board.

Velma enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, playing cards (500), visiting the casino, shopping at Younkers, and later in life, visiting family and friends, and singing at local nursing homes. But above all else, Velma enjoyed and was most proud of her family.

Surviving are her children, Steven (Linda) Eibs, Gregory (Jacqueline) Eibs, and Ricki (Dennis) Tuttle; grandchildren; great grandchildren; sister Arlene (Delmar) Ford; sister-in-law Ronda Rohde; and numerous others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; parents Fred and Emma; and siblings Evelyn, Eleanor, Fred, and LeRoy.

Velma's family wishes to acknowledge the Bickford Cottage family and the staff at Grandview Heights for their excellent care of Velma in her final years.
