Charleston's Oldest Barber Passes Away
Charleston, Ill., May 11 - Richard E. Byers, 55, a resident of Charleston for fifty-three years and the oldest barber here and a member of the Fourth Regiment band in the Spanish-American war, passed away Sunday morning. He had been ill several months, suffering from stomach trouble and complications.
The funeral will take place from the Christian church Tuesday afternoon. Burial in Mound cemetery.
Those surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lucy Byers; a daughter by a former wife, Mrs. V. A. Jones; a brother, Charles Byers of Anderson, Ind., and a sister, Mrs. Della Ashmore of Livingston.
