Rachel Cleo Abee Cornett, 68, of Shady Grove Rd. Connelly Springs, passed away Tuesday November 6, 2007 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care Center following a period of declining health. Rachel was born on November 23, 1938 in Burke County to the late Rev. Ralph G. Abee, Sr. and Pansy Lowman Abee. She was a homemaker, and was a member of Abee's Chapel Baptist Church, and attended Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Linda McKay Cornett, and a nephew, Christopher Robert Adams. Survivors include her husband of 42 years, John Cornett of the home; two sons, Randall D. Hamby and wife Deanna of of Gamewell and Johnnie W. Cornett and wife Lori of Connelly Springs; and one daughter, Patricia L. Rubio and husband Filiberto of Connelly Springs; her brothers and sisters, Myrtle Lee Lowman and husband Leon of Connelly Springs, Julia Adams and husband Robert of Conover, Louise Earheart and husband Jim of Chantilly, VA, Merita Buff and husband Dwight of Hickory, Ralph G. Abee, Jr. of Connelly Springs, and Gladys Abee of Valdese. Also surviving are 10 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday November 9, 2007 at Abee's Chapel Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Buddy Sizemore and Rev. Leonard Lindsay. Interment will follow in the Abee Family Cemetery.
