For well nigh 15 years, Mr. George was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairview, Kansas. For a number of years he was a member of the vestry and at his death an elder of the congregation. The large attendance at the funeral service, the many beautiful flowers and tributes certainly expressed the communities respect and esteem for the late Mr. George.

Charles George was born at White Cloud, Kansas. He was one of 3 children born to his parents. At the age of 6, he, with his parents, moved to the George farm southeast of Fairview. He lived there until he was married to Mrs. Anna Plamann. Mr and Mrs. George would have celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary. Their marriage was blessed with 5 children: Henry, Paul, Keith, Kenneth and Rebecca not yet 2 years old. He was a loving husband, a kind and generous father. His loss is and will be felt greatly for some time. The cause of his death was complications following the flu. For some time before his illness he had helped to care for members of his household who were suffering with the flu. He was not immune, the dreaded disease brought on his death. As a Christian he had learned to confess, "For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain." That surely is comfort and consolation for the bereaved.
