Abdullah Bey, (Gerald Bernard Turner) age 61, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 16, 2018 in a local hospice.

Educated in the public schools of Duval County, he graduated from William Raines Senior High School- Class of 1974. After which he served his country in the U.S. Army, until being honorably discharged. Mr. Bey then moved to New York City, NY, where he was employed with the U.S. Postal Service, rendering over 20 years of service until retiring. Relocating to Jacksonville in 2015, he joined Living the Word Christian Church, Rev. Michael McCoy, Pastor. Other affiliations include membership of Royal Vagabonds, Inc. and Former Grand Officer in the M.W. Hiram Grand Lodge, State of New York.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Valerie Blake-Bey; son, Cori Washington; step-daughters, Mrs. Paige Butler (Jeffery) and Ms. Stacy Shaw; siblings, Ms. Jeanette Isom, Mrs. Audrey Frasier, Ms. Patricia Kelsey, Hanif Shakir (Arthur Lee Turner, Jr.); a number of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service for Mr. Abdullah Bey will be held 10 AM, Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Mt. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Robert Herring, Sr., Pastor, Rev. McCoy, officiating. Mr. Bey will rest in the mortuary for visitation on Friday from 5 PM until 7 PM where the family will receive friends at 5; Masonic Rites begin at 7 PM and Saturday at the church from 9 AM until the hour of service. Interment will be in the Jacksonville National Cemetery. Friends are asked to assemble at the church under the direction of Alphonso West Mortuary, Inc.,4409 Soutel Dr.
