Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland, Saturday, February 9, 1907: "The funeral of Mrs. Mary Baxter, widow of the late Michael Baxter, was a devoted member. Rev. Stephen J.Clarke preached and conducted the burial services, speaking very touchingly of the long and useful career of the departed lady. At the conclusion of the services the cortege proceeded to St. Michael's Catholic cemetery on Mt. Pleasant street, where the remains were interred beside her late husband, who passed away many years ago. A very large concourse of friends attended the funeral. The deceased was a native of Vale Summit, where she resided for many years. The deceased was about 70 years of age at the time of her death."

NOTE: Age is obituary is incorrect. Census records show she was about 77 years old when she died; her first child was born in 1847.
