Services Are Held For Mrs. Southern

Funeral services for Mrs. Richard Southern who died at her home here Sunday, were held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in Central Christian church. Attendance was large, as Mrs. Southern had been a constant worker at that church for many years. The Rev. C.D. Walker officiated. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Quinn sang, with Jess Meeker as accompanist. Pallbearers were Wilbur Newman, Carl Flick, Bernard Anderson, Gordon Howard, Prince Eckley, Donald McMichael, Larry Beaumont and Richard Grady. Interment was in Riverview cemetery. Oldroyd was in charge.

Mrs. Southern was born in El Reno, Okla., Sept. 10, 1893. She was married to Richard Southern Oct. 13, 1912, at Waukomis, Okla. They moved to Arkansas City in 1917. Surviving are the husband; two daughters, Mrs. Cecil Barger and Miss Ina; one son, Donald. Mrs. Southern was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.T. Blass, who survive. Eight brothers and three sisters also survive.

They are Harry Blass, Oklahoma City; Roy Ray, Carl, O.T., Orland, Leonard and Elden; Mrs. Roy Woodard, Miss Zetta and Miss Eleanor Blass all of this city. Out of town relatives and friends here to attend the services included: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chambers and G.F. Little, El Reno; John and Alma Blass, Midland, Kas.; Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Waleher and Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Kellogg, of Wichita; Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Karnes, Newkirk; Mr. and Mrs. John Austin, Enid; Mrs. Fred Wittmer, Ponca City.
