Dotty was born December 25, 1932, in Red Bush, KY, to the late Charles M. and Sarah Mullins Adams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin daughters, Alisa and Teresa Holbrook; two brothers, Charles Adams and Wayne Adams; three sisters, Caroline Jones, Lillian Harris and Susie Traylor.
Dotty was the owner of Dotty's Discount Carpets in Flatwoods for many years. She had a passion for writing having written many short stories and a novel and was a member of the Flatwoods Poetry Association. Dotty volunteered for many years at Bellefonte Hospital. She was also a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Flatwoods.
Dotty was very proud of all of her family and their accomplishments. Four of her daughters went into the nursing profession and one daughter took over the business her mother started, Dotty's Discount Carpets.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 69 years, Charles Wilson Holbrook; one son, Bob Holbrook of Howe, IN; five daughters, Donna Holbrook and Betty Johnson (Ronald) both of Flatwoods, Debra Johnson (Richard) of Oak Hill, OH, Charlotte Runyon (Bill) and Barbara Rigsby (Donnie) both of Russell; one brother, Rev. Billy Adams (Sue) of Portland, TN; three sisters, Elna Sue Jenkins (Roy) and Estella Jones (Virgil) both of Greenup and Diana Clark (Gene) of Flatwoods; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; along with a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood with the Rev. William David Runyon officiating. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
