Fort Madison, Iowa - Virgil L. Billings, 49, Augusta, died today at 5:40 a.m. in Sacred Heart hospital. Mr. Billings was born May 10, 1921, in Wyaconda. He has spent most of his life in Fort Madison. A member of Local # 735 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, he was employed by Pohren Electric of Burlington. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Augusta, and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. On December 7, 1941 he married Virginia Mae Burch in Kahoka, Missouri, who preceded him in death on July 1, 1944. October 22, 1949, he married Marjorie Feldbauer, who survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. C. M. (Sadie Harvey) Billings, Fort Madison; three sons: Clarence Virgil Billings, serving in the U. S. Navy, on the USS Intrepid and Charles and Michael Billings, both at home; four daughters: Mrs. Ronald (Magarette) Christopher, Fort Madison, Mrs. Paul (Judith) Scheiner, Maryville, MO and Mary Elizabeth and Lynnette, both at home; a brother, William Anson Billings, Fort Madison; twin sister, Mrs. Stanley (Virginia) Richards, Cedar Rapids; sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Nancy) Meyer, Calmar, Iowa, and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Burch, and his father, C.M. Billings.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Church here. The Rev. Henry Greiner, Burlington, will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart cemetery.

The body is at Neiters Chapel where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
