Ora F. Guffey, 90, a longtime Ashland resident, died Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Heritage Health in Carlinville.

She was born September 21, 1927, in Monticello, KY, the daughter of Luther T. and Addie Denney Alexander. She married Paul A. Guffey on March 13, 1945, in Springfield, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 2005.

She is survived by two daughters, Jeanie White and Karen Atwood; four grandchildren, Shane (Pam) White, Scott White, Steven (Kristi) White, and Nick (Alysia) Atwood; two great grandchildren, Brooks and Collins White; and one brother Robert (Kathy) Alexander.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda in infancy; six brothers; two sisters; and one son-in-law.

Mrs. Guffey was a 1945 graduate of Pleasant Plains High School. She worked many years for and retired from the Illinois Department of Public Aid. She was a member of Pleasant Plains Christian Church and served as a Cass County Election Judge. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Ora had an amazing sense of humor.

Private services will be held. The Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
