A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Virginia Herring officiating.
Born Martha Susanne Fant, in Greenville, S.C., she was the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Carnes and Patrick Clebourne Fant. She attended Salem College, and graduated from the University of South Carolina.
She was a member of the Junior League, Contemporary Book Club and the Wedgewood Hobby Club. For years she helped with the Soup Kitchen and Meals on Wheels. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her priority in life was the health and well-being of her family. She was a strong, beautiful woman, who touched the lives of many. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, L.R. Hodges Jr. (Friday); her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hodges-Sparks; a son, James Hodges, and his wife, Hiedi; a stepson, Ryan Hodges, and his wife, Mary; grandchildren, Christina and Ian Sparks, Savannah Hodges, and Cabell and William Hodges; her mother, Mrs. P.C. Fant; a brother, P.C. Fant Jr., and his wife, Audrey; and her nephew, Patrick Fant, and his family.
Thank you to Dr. Gaurst and Duke University, and the staff at Wesley Long Hospital.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
