Ramona Rae Nickerson-Turley was born Feb. 23, 1935 to Amos Leaf and Emma Jane Eitemiller of Greeley, Colo.

She attended school at Kersey High until her senior year when she graduated in 1952 from Greeley High with full ride scholarship to CU Boulder.

Ramona was unable to attended CU as she chose to care for her terminally ill grandmother until her death. She was given the opportunity to attend St. Mary’s Hospital School for radiology. She graduated and worked in the field of x-ray technology until the 1960’s.

Ramona met and married Fred Lambert of Tacoma, Wash., in 1953 and had a daughter, Robin, in 1954. They divorced in 1956.

She was then working in the Greeley Clinic and Weld County Hospital where she met and married Ted Nickerson of Evans, Colo. He had a son, Mark, from a previous marriage. Ramona and Ted had a son, Alan, in 1958.

Ramona was a homemaker who was also active as a member of the local DAR, a past president of the Evans VFW Post 6624, a member of Women of the Moose, Loveland, Colo., a Weld County Census taker, and a Democratic party organizer.

In 1970, she started working at the Evans Post Office until her retirement 22 years later in September of 1992.

Ramona met and married Gary Turley of Modoc, Kan. and became a proud step-mom to Gary and Larry Turley.

She was a proud grandmother of four and even prouder to be known as “GG” to seven great-grandchildren.

Ramona had an amazing love of reading, card playing, and celebrating life with all of her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Cliff Leaf and her parents.

Donations in honor of Ramona Nickerson-Turley can be made to Dementia Society of America.

Private family graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 28th Street, Greeley.
