Ella passed away at her residence at the age of 87 years. Predeceased by her husband Abner Shantz (2003).

Survived by her children, Lorna and James Roth of RR 2, Tara, Erla and Laverne Bauman of Heidelberg, Marilyn and James Martin of RR 4, Tara, Anna Mae and David Roth of Palmerston, Verna and Gerald Martin of St. Clements, Pauline and Howard Gingerich of Hawkesville, Carol and Edgar Martin of RR 3, Tara, Donald and Joanne Shantz of Wallenstein, Joyce and Brian Weber of RR 2, Allenford, and David and Christine Shantz of RR 2, Wallenstein. Remembered by 42 grandchildren and 66 great-grandchildren.

Sister of Eldon and Beatrice Martin, Leonard and Eileen Martin, Verna and Rufus Gingrich, Elsie and Laverne Weber, and sister-in-law of Rebecca Martin and Wilma Martin.

Predeceased by her parents Alvin and Elizabeth (Steckle) Martin, five grandchildren, sisters Alice (Aden) Martin and Irene (Sidney) Martin, brothers Elmer (Elmeda) Martin, Edgar Martin, and Alvin Martin.

Ella was a Godly woman; compassionate, caring, nurturing, accepting, giving beyond herself. She had many friends and took an interest in people’s lives, and many were remembered daily in her prayers.

The family received relatives and friends on Sunday, April 8, 2018 from 6-8:30 p.m. and Monday, April 9, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Countryside Mennonite Fellowship, 3745 Herrgott Rd., Hawkesville. Interment followed in Hillside Cemetery, St. Clements.
