Funeral services for Roy C.Ater will be at 1 pm Thursday in the Dawson & Wikoff funeral home. Burial in La Place cemetery. Mr.Ater 63, of near Argenta died at 2 am yesterday in Decatur and Macon county hospital.
Mr.Ater,a painting contractor,served in the Army during WWI and was a member of Faye Ickes Barracks, 341, Veterans of WWI.
He was born in Monticello, March 2, 1897, a son of Byron M.and Mary F.Gossett Ater and moved to Argenta from Long Creek 25 years ago. He had also lived in Lovington.
He was married to Gertie Daily in New London,Mo, Nov. 16, 1940. He leaves his wife a son Lloyd D.Ater, Decatur, four brothers, Charles H.Ater,Decatur,Frank A. Lovington, Vern, L. of Argenta and Byron of Pa, a sister, Mrs. Ruth Adkins Decatur and a grandson. One brother preceded him in death.
