On April 2nd, 2018, at the young age of 68 years old, my father and forever role model William Biship passed away. I have no words for what has happened and I'm numb to the pain, so instead of telling you my feelings I will tell you about the man he was.
He was a man of compassion, love, strength, faith, and most of all an everlasting soul. The man he was is the kind of man I strive to be one day, and if I can reach even half of that goal I will be grateful. I was blessed to have known such an amazing man, and had the privilege to call him my father. He was a man of bitter love. He never quite knew how to show it until he needed too, but when he did, he made sure you knew with an abundance of his love. He was a man of pure compassion. His compassion was shown through the way he lived his life every day. Giving to the needy, helping the hurt, holding the pain for others and creating such an amazing smile from any person he talked too.
My father was the definition of strength. When he was 17 he enlisted into the Army during the Vietnam War. To say he was strong wasn't good enough. He fought through multiple heart surgeries, numerous heart attacks, lung problems, and plenty more health issues. His strength is something I hope to gain from him. My father was a man of strong faith, but that wasn't until God came into his life and changed him as an adult. See, my father was ruthless in his younger years. He loved fighting, drinking, and shooting the shit with his friends. As he became older though he realized that he couldn't do it all alone. That's when my father turned to God. God opened his life up in such a way that only the ones around him (or who have been through it) could truly understand. From then on out he has been nothing but an open testament to Jesus Christ himself. His faith was unbreakable, his willingness to show God off was unchangeable, and his love for God was unshakeable.
My father’s soul was something that no one could explain, so bear with me here while I try. His soul was pure, open, strong and a soul that will live on forever and ever. My Dad fought a great fight and even though he isn't here anymore, he continues to fight for my family like I know he did before. My Dad’s smile was yes, sometimes hard to get out of him, but so bright and unbelievably amazing once you did. His laugh could brighten the days of anyone that was shaken in fear. Even this post isn't close enough to tell you what kind of man my father was. The only way to know who he truly was is to ask the Holy Spirit to show you. When you do, he will show you light, the happiness, the love, the strength, the compassion, his faith and his unchanging and everlasting soul. This one is for you Dad, I love you and you'll always be close to my heart. Until I see you again, goodbye.
