Lorraine Kathrine Johnson, 98, of Ashland, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018, at Artisan Assisted Living in De Pere, WI with her loving family at her side. She was born February 6, 1920, in Ashland, the daughter of Anthony and Helga Pufall.
Lorraine was a 1938 Honor Roll Student graduate of Ashland High School. She worked in several Ashland businesses with her main focus being bookkeeping at Ashland Daily Press, Northland College and Northland Savings and Loan. She retired from Ashland County as the Deputy County Treasurer. She married Florian A. Milewski on April 24, 1940 and he preceded her in death on November 15, 1955. She married Melvin T. Johnson on July 30, 1965, at the First Covenant Church in Ashland. Melvin had four children from a previous marriage, Donna Puig, Carolyn Rogalski, Robert Johnson and Barbara Harvey.
Lorraine was a member of the First Covenant Church of Ashland, where she served as a past Treasurer. She was active in their womens Bible study group throughout her life. She was a member and past Treasurer of the I.O.O.F. No. 63 Lodge of Ashland. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Sweet Adeline Women Singers group where she performed on television in Duluth and Minneapolis. She enjoyed knitting, crafts, dancing, camping, and traveling out west, Canada, and Las Vegas with Melvin.
She is survived by her two daughters, Barbara (John) Erickson of De Pere, WI, Alyce (Robert) Knueppel of Eau Claire, WI, one brother, Don (Nancy) Pufall, West Bend, WI, Sister-in-law Marve Pufall, Wisconsin Rapids, WI., grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by; her husbands; her parents; two daughters Darlene Sicilia; Carol Paur; granddaughter, Tracy Erickson; a sister: Dorothy Sturgal; two brothers; Walter Pufall and Lester Pufall.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Frost Home for Funerals in Ashland, WI, with Pastor Ernie Bliss officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Spring inurnment will take place at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ashland, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred for a fund that is being established in Lorraines name.
