Maxie Faye Hopkins, age 91 years and 51 weeks, passed away on March 30, 2018 at Houston Methodist Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas. Maxie was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was born in Erick, Oklahoma to William Luther Pennington and Ona Izora McClinton on April 5, 1926.

Maxie was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, MC Hopkins. She is survived by her two sons, Jeff and wife Jackie, and Joe and wife Kay; 5 grandchildren, Jonathan Hopkins and wife Holly, Katie Abbott and husband Andy, Sarah Hopkins, Beth Hanna and husband Jim and John Hopkins. Maxie also had 5 great grandchildren.

Maxie was a longtime member of Conroe First United Methodist Church and a resident of River Plantation for 42 years. She loved to play bridge and served her community by volunteering her time with Meals on Wheels and Red Cross Blood Drives.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Conroe, Texas. Reverend Janet Stilwell will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gathering Place in care of the First United Methodist Church, 4308 West Davis St., Conroe, Texas 77304, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The Gathering place is an outreach program for adults who have early to moderate Alzheimer's or dementia.
