Glenn Bolger was born September 18, 1911, in Carroll County, the son of Frank and Hazel Wilson Bolger. He lived throughout his life on the same farm in which he was born and attended community schools. He married Ruth Thomas on May 8, 1934. Six children have brought happiness to their home: Carolyn, (Mrs. Paul Conner), Glidden; Robert Bolger, Baton Rouge, La.; Nancy, (Mrs. William Smith), Des Moines; Alan Bolger, Coon Rapids; Joel and Janice Bolger, at home.

Among his survivors are his wife, Ruth, his children, his mother, Mrs. Hazel Bolger, 12 grandchildren and his sister, Claire, Mrs. Clifford Grimm of Perry. His father and two grandchildren preceded him in death.

Glenn Bolger centered his interests in his home, his church and his community. He was an active member of the Coon Rapids United Methodist Church and a faithful member of the Star Methodist Church up to the time of its closing. At one time he was a director of the country school in his district. He graduated from the Coon Rapids High School in 1929.

While attending high school he was a member of the football team. He continued an interest in competitive sports. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed his annual fishing trip to Minnesota this fall. This trip was always the second week in September, competing with his birthday celebration, with the fishing trip winning.

Whatever his children were doing he was right near, encouraging, cheering, suggesting. Friday night he attended the high school band concert and suffered a stroke on the way home. He was taken to St. Anthony Hospital, Carroll, where he passed away Monday morning, Nov. 15, 1971.

The place is lonesome where he lived, worked, loved; but our faith tells us his presence continues with us. We ask God to give us strength for our days.
