Services for Coon Rapids for Ruth Bolger of Coon Rapids were Monday, September 29 at the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids with Rev. Lynn Gunderson officiating.

Casket Bearers were Ruth's Grandchildren.

Interment was in the Coon Rapids Cemetery, Coon Rapids.

Ada Ruth, daughter of Wesley Lynk and Freyda Elsina (Weaver) Thomas, was born March 1,1917 on a farm in the Star Community of Union Township, Carroll County. She attended Star School and Star M. E. Sunday School, graduated from Coon Rapids High School, and attended classes at Des Moines Area Community College.

On May 8,1934 Ruth was united in marriage with Glenn Harold Bolger. Six children blessed this union. They moved to Glenn's Aunt Laura Anderson's farm in the spring of 1937. Ruth continued to live there until November 1993 when she moved to Westwood Knolls Retirement Center in Carroll. In April of 2007 she became a resident of Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids.

Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, PEO Sisterhoods DW & EB and Clio Club. The other organizations to which she belonged were a means to serve others, especially youth and older adults. She enjoyed reading, music and Bible study.

Due to declining health, Ruth entered Buena Vista Regional Medical Center and she died there on September 25 at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 15 days.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Glenn in 1971; parents; mother-in-law Hazel Bolger; sister Dorothy (Lewis) Krenmyre; brothers Wesley Thomas and Wilber Thomas; son-in-law Paul Conner and two infant granddaughters.

Ruth is survived by her six children: Carolyn Diane Bolger Conner, Glidden, IA; Robert Glenn (Carolyn) Bolger, Baton Rouge, LA; Nancy Ruth Bolger (William) Smith, Emporia, KS; Alan Thomas (Joleen) Bolger, Grimes, IA; Joel Harold (Cheryl) Bolger, Kodiak, AK; and Janice Joy Bolger, Centerville, IA; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 7 step great-grandchildren; 4 step great-great-grandchildren, sister May (George) Opperman, Beloit, WI; sisters-in-law Mary "Betty" Thomas, Coon Rapids; Maureen Thomas, Omaha, NE; Claire Grimm, Perry, and many other relatives and friends.
