Guy L. Sutton, widely-known retired Muncie resident, of 31 Woodridge Ave., died at Ball Memorial Hospital at 7:40 a.m. Tuesday. He was stricken ill while visiting at Tri-Lakes Saturday morning.
A native of Indianapolis, Mr. Sutton was the son of Charles and Eva Cornelius Sutton, and was born Feb. 27, 1879. He was a member of many Masonic groups, the Delaware Lodge, Charter Council and the Knights Templar. He was an active member of the Universalist Church.
Mr. Sutton had been employed for many years as an engineer and fireman on the Muncie Belt Railroad, and later was employed at the T.W. Warner Company in 1918. He had also been employed at the Chevrolet-Muncie plant, from which position he retired several years ago. Since the death of his wife, Clara, in 1944, Mr. Sutton made his home with his children.
Orval Sutton, retired printer, and Muncie city councilman for many years, is a brother.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. D.D. Bernard and Mrs. J.A. Beebe, both of Muncie, and Mrs. R.E. Whinrey of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Jane and David Whinrey; the brother, Orval, and three sisters, Mrs. Charles Reece, Sr., Mrs. Otis Nichols and Miss Era Sutton.
Funeral rites will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Meeks Mortuary, the Reverend A.W. McDavitt in charge, assisted by the Delaware Lodge of Masons. Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 4 to 6 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and prior to the services Thursday.
