Edward Hickner, 76, of Lafayette, died at 4:51 AM, Monday, March 26, 2018 at his residence. He was born in South Bend, IN to the late Jerome and Edith Hickner in 1941. Edward was a 1959 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He also attended Purdue University.

His marriage was to Michele McDowell on December 26, 1964 in Lafayette; she survives.

Edward served in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge in 1966. After the Air Force, he was employed by RCA as a computer programmer until his move back to Indiana where he started working for Purdue University in the IT Department. Edward retired in 2010 after 26 years at Purdue.

Edward was a parishioner of St. Boniface Catholic Church of Lafayette. He enjoyed spending his time golfing. To get away from his honey do list, Edward enjoyed working on crosswords, camping, and most of all, time with family.

Surviving along with his spouse are five children; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and two brothers.

Preceding him in death along with his parents are siblings, Miriam Walters, Margaret Cannon, Mary Hickner, Philip Hickner and Jerry Hickner.

Rosary will begin at 4:45 PM (EST), visitation to follow from 5-8 PM (EST) Monday, April 2, 2018 at St. Boniface Catholic Church of Lafayette. Memorial Mass 10 AM (EST) Tuesday, April 3, 2018 also at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Fr. Timothy Alkire to officiate.
