Services for Dr. E.H. Balch were held in the First Baptist Church. He moved with his parents to Seymour in 1920 where he attended school. After graduating from Seymour High School, he attended Decatur Baptist College and Baylor University in Waco. He and Fay Merle Hinton were married on 22 September 1937 in Channing, Texas. He attended Baylor School of Medicine, graduating in 1938. He served his internship at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth before moving to Floydada to begin his medical practice. After 14 months in Floydada, he moved to Petrolia, Texas. In 1944, he moved from Petrolia to Seymour to practice in the Seymour Clinic, the Baylor County Hospital, and the Seymour Hospital Auxiliary before his retirement in 1976. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Seymour and a Deacon Emeritus. He was active in the Boy Scouts and the Seymour Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his wife; two daughters; one son; one granddaughter; three grandsons; one brother; his step-mother.
