Orville B. Pollard Dies; Diner Owner For Over 40 Years

Orville Brooks Pollard, 61, of 244 South street, Biddeford, owner and operator of diner businesses in Biddeford and Saco for over 40 years, died suddenly Saturday at a local hospital.

Born in Dracut, Mass., December 22, 1900, he was the son of Fred E and Isabelle (Park) Pollard and was educated in the Dracut schools.

Prominent in fraternal circles, he was a 32nd degree Mason; a member of Kora Temple Shrine and of the Knights of Constatine; a past commander of Bethany Commandery of Sanford; a member of the Consistery; of Dunlap lodge F. and A. M.; and of Adah chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; York Council of Masons; and a past district deputy of Lions International. He was a member of the First Parish Congregational church, Saco and in 1935 he was initiated into the Biddeford-Saco Elks Lodge #1597.

Survivors include his widow, Lillian (Trevors) Pollard; a daughter, Mrs. Daniel Henry, and a granddaughter, Deborah Ann Henry, Annapolis, Md.; a brother, Roy Arthur Pollard, Newton, Mass. and a sister, Mrs. Lewis Lachance, Biddeford.
