Services for Billy D. Blankenship, 68, will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2007 at Bethel Baptist Church, officiated by Ray Calger and brother Jimmy May. Interment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery under the direction of Spivey Funeral Home.
Born the ninth of 10 children on May 31, 1938 at Lindsay to Bud and Iola Blankenship, he passed away Friday, April 6, 2007 at his home in Healdton. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lawrence and Ernest Blankenship, and four sisters, Ida Schoonover, Mae Logan, Lena Hill and Corine Blankenship.
Bill was married to Norma Louis West on Dec. 27, 1957 at Ardmore. He was in the U.S. Air Force and was retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church at Healdton.
Survivors include his wife, Norma, of the home; three children, Donnie Blankenship, Wyoming, Mary Johnson and her husband, John, Healdton, and Sandy Jenkins and her husband, David, Healdton; nine grandchildren, Misty and Keith Blankenship, Amy and Joshua Johnson, Meagan, Kelsey, Garrett, Rilee and Connor Jenkins; two sisters, Norma Porterfield and Sue Hardcastle; one brother, Ira Blankenship; and many other family members.
Bearers are grandsons, Joshua Johnson, Keith Blankenship, Garrett Jenkins, Billy Hardcastle, Bobby Hardcastle and Jim Hardcastle.
