Ruth M. Groft, 87, of New Oxford, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the York Hospital. She was the wife of Paul J. Groft who died January 25, 1993. Born December 19, 1930 in New Chester, she was the daughter of Curtis and Grace (Groscott) Rummel. Ruth was retired from the Hanover Shoe Co. and was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are three daughters, Jane Hoover and husband Tim of Abbottstown; Judy Zinn and husband Perry of New Oxford and Linda Bastress of Hanover; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by seven siblings, Fred, Ralph, Orville, Cyril and Lloyd Rummel, Blanche Bixler and Janet Frock.

A Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2018 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut Street, Hanover with Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Edgegrove. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Smith, James Smith, Ryan Bastress, Davey Baker, Jason Zinn, Jason Decker and Cody Bosserman.
