Born in New Chester, he was a son of the late Edgar and Grace Groscot Rummel.
Mr. Rummel was employed at Black & Decker, Hampstead, MD, for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He was also a life-long farmer in both Hanover and New Chester. Mr. Rummel was a member of the Republican Club, Hanover and the Hanover Moose 227.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Althoff Rummel, who died January 27, 2002, and is survived by four sons, Terry W. Rummel of New Oxford, Wayne E. Rummel of Denver CO, and James A. Rummel and Rick W. Rummel, both of Hanover; two daughters, Bonnie R. Long of Hanover and Lisa A. Rummel of New Cumberland; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Janet Frock and Blanche Bixler, both of Hanover, and Ruth Groft of New Oxford; and one brother, Fred Rummel of Hanover.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Lloyd G. Rummel and Robert J. Rummel; and three brothers, Ralph Rummel, Orville Rummel and Cyril Rummel.
