Ivonia Manning of the 900 block of Bells Mill Road died Jan. 26, 2000, at Chesapeake General Hospital.

Born in Isle of Wight County, Franklin, she was the widow of Lindwood Manning Sr. and a homemaker. She was a member of Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, Bells Mill, and the Deaconess Board.

Survivors include five daughters, Mildred Rhodes of Philadelphia, Pa., Mable Davis of Chesapeake, Victoria Gray of Camden, N.C., Margie Griffin of Chesapeake and Gladys Midgett of Virginia Beach; three sons, Lindwood Manning Jr. of Chesapeake, Alfonza Manning of Norfolk and Wallace Manning of Elton, Md.; a sister, Beulah Canty, and brother, Leonard Smith, both of Portsmouth; 30 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Kim Brown. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will begin at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Carlos A. Howard Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. The remains will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. The family will assemble at the residence at noon for the procession.
