John Crawford Moran, 91, of Salem, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 6, 2002.

He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He retired from the Pet Dairy Company and later worked for Sawyer Paving.

He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Moran and a son, George Moran.

He was the last survivor of ten children. He is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law, Don and Aretta Moran of Salem, Lynn and Barbara Moran of Smithfield, Doris Moran of Salem; two stepsons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Sue Sink of Salem, Tommy and Rosemary Sink of Roanoke; eight grandchildren, Leon and Janet Moran, Linda and Ronnie Brown, Timmy and Cindy Moran, Patty and Paul Hylton, Peter Lynn and Melissa Moran, Susie and Cedrick Marston, Alan Moran and Melissa Jacuzzi; four stepgrandchildren, Tracy and Robert Martin, Mark and Chera Sink and Patty Sweeny; 14 great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is also survived by his former wife, Irene Moran.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Salem Funeral Home, with Dr. Thomas Cribb officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements by John M. Oakey & Son Salem Funeral Home.
