Pearl Branys Edwards passed away in Mineral Wells, Texas, on Wednesday March 14, 2018.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 17th at the First Christian Church of Breckenridge, Texas with graveside following in the Breckenridge Cemetery.
Services have been entrusted to Morehart Mortuary.
Donations may be made to the First Christian Church of Breckenridge Sanctuary Restoration Fund or Meals on Wheels of Breckenridge.
Born December 31st, 1927, in Graham Texas, to Pearl Bennett and Lillian Jewel.
She moved to Breckenridge in 1943 where she attended and graduated from Breckenridge High School in May of 1944.
She attended East Texas State, Commerce and Emory University.
During WWII, she worked at the Pentagon and Office of the Quartermaster General, Washington D.C after which she married Clyde Virgil Edwards on July 20, 1945 in Alexandria, LA.
She and her husband Clyde became the owners of Edwards Jewelry in 1968. They owned and operated the Jewelry Store for over 21 years working side by side. Edwards Jewelers was in business over 51 years, and was one of the oldest businesses ran by a husband and wife team. During the 51 years – 3 generations of Edwards’ (DC & Jewel Edwards, Clyde and Branys Edwards, and Debe Edwards Loredo) were involved in the running of the store which included locations in Olney, Abilene, Eastland, and Breckenridge.
Mrs. Edwards was very involved in the community along with many organizations thru out her life until her health interfered including member of the First Christian Church from 1946; she was song leader of the Round Up Sunday School Class and a member of the FCC Senior Choir for 12 years. One of Mrs. Edwards passions was the American Cancer Society where she held the 1st Cancer Crusade while showing a movie “The 7 signs of Cancer” at the old Palace Theater, member and set on the board of the Woman’s Club for 3 years, while also holding the positions of President, Treasure and Parliamentarian, member of Woman’s Forum, member of the Chamber of Commerce and secretary of the Committee for Downtown Business, BHS Band Sponsor, Lifetime member of National Bridal Consultants, Representative and Board Member of the International Jewelry Buyers, and Who’s Who Business Woman of the Year 1988. One of the things she was most proud of was her fight to keep the bricks on Walker Street in downtown Breckenridge.
When asked what her greatest accomplishment was in life – she would have answered her children and grandchild. She loved her children with all the heart and soul a mother had. Whether it be, watching Ronny play football or run track, watching Larry twirl his batons, or watching Debe twirl her batons, ride her horses or dance her feet off, she was always on the side lines rooting them on.
After her husband past away, she spent most of her time in Tyler, Texas with her daughter and granddaughter where she enjoyed traveling with them to horse shows all over the United States. Nothing made her happier than to watch he granddaughter, Alyxandra go around the pen on her horse or jump the course, she once again was on the side line rooting her on.

Survivors include son, Ronald Clyde Edwards of Dallas Texas; daughter, Debe Loredo and husband Edward of Beach City Texas; granddaughter, Alyxandra Dalton Roberts and husband Bradly of Beach City Texas; great grandson, Davin Edward Roberts of Beach City Texas, along with several nieces and nephews which include Lillian Kay Cowan of Austin, Texas, Blake Edwards of Dallas, Texas and Darryl Edwards of Point Clear, Alabama.
