C. Edwin "Ed" Close, 86, of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday at Iroquois Nursing Home after a long illness. Born in Syracuse, he was a graduate of Manlius Military Academy, attended Gettysburg College, graduated from Colgate University in 1953 and Syracuse University School of Law. Ed was a US Air Force veteran. He practiced law with his father, Charles B. Close and later independently for over 40 years. Ed was a rotarian with Syracuse Rotary for over 40 years and was an avid tennis player and hunter. He enjoyed annual fishing trips to Canada and deep sea fishing.
Survivors: his wife, Joan (Guth) Close; daughters, Karen Bonaccio of DeWitt and Julie Nilsen (David Sequino) of Leesburg, VA; grandchildren, Matthew and Thomas Bonaccio, Alaina Nilsen. Services: 1:00 pm Friday at Tindall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. A calling hour will be 12:00 to 1:00 pm Friday at the funeral home, 1921 W. Genesee St, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of ones choice.
