Stratford Evening Post, 25 July 1924
The late Mrs S. J. Rawles, who passed away at her residence at Opunake Road on Monday evening last, was one of the oldest identities of Stratford, having been a highly respected resident of the district for the past 27 years. Mrs Rawles and her late husband (who passed away five years ago) emigrated to Australia from England and later crossed over to New Zealand and settled in the Stratford district. The deceased, who had been ill for some time, leaves a grown-up family of two sons and two daughters (Messrs A. W. and A. L. Rawles and Misses R. and S. Rawles) for whom much sympathy will be felt
NOTE her other son was Archibald Wilfred Rawles (1885-1961) who married May Harriet Patience Watts (1888-) in 1906 and married Catherine Lilley (1882-1974) in 1916
