Funeral services for Lauretta Merkley, 83, of Salt Lake City, who died in a rest home in that city April 12, were held Tuesday in the Naples Ward Chapel.
She was born September 23, 1890 in Vernal to James B. and Mary Frances Brown Murray Merkley, July 23, 1910 in Vernal. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Survivors: sons, daughters, Earl, Salt Lake City; Lynn, Ogden; Ezra B., Mrs. Floy (Hilda) Reynolds, Mrs. Grant (Dora) Ottley, Mrs. Ace (Lois) Walker, Mrs. LeRoy (Grace) Oaks, Mrs. Boyd (Mary) Price, all of Vernal; 42 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; seven; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother, sister, Merrill, Salt Lake City, Bertha Armstrong, Milford.
Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery.

She has always been lively, full of fun and friendly. She attended elementary and High School in Vernal, Utah. She was active in sports. She married Murray Merkley July 23, 1910.
To this union were born eight children. One daughter, Mary Merkley died in 2004.
