Leo Joseph "PAP" Herbert, age 91, Rushville, Indiana, passed away on March 5, 2018. Leo was born March 31, 1926 in Decatur County to Harry W. and Rosa (Niehoff) Herbert, both deceased. Leo attended St Mary's Church in Rushville and also Milroy. He married Geraldine Marie Davis on November 28, 1951. She preceded him in death in 2008. Leo lived most of his life in Rush County, was a life long farmer, worked many years at Pioneer Hybrid, after retirement he had a rural route delivery for the Rushville Republican until he was 86 years old. He met many friends and enjoyed talking and telling funny tales, and always had a smile. Leo was a WWII veteran, having survived in the Philippines.
Leo is survived by one daughter Brenda (Husband Ralph) Case of Rush County. Five Grandsons, Joe Herbert of Westport, Jason (Wife Cari) Herbert, Rushville, Dustin (Wife Liz) Case, Jared (Wife Becca) Case, Brandon (Wife Alexis) Case all of Rush County. Great Grandchldren, Mikayla and Ellis Herbert, Keegan, Kannon Tucker, Kelsie Jo, Mason and Kottin Case, and Adam on the way. Leo is survived by one brother Delbert Herbert of Rushville, Sister, Frieda Johnting, Shelbyville, Indiana. Several Nieces and Nephews. Leo was preceded in death by son Mike Herbert, infant grandson Michael Joseph Herbert. Sisters Alberta Short, Luella Gates, Rita Hornaday. Brothers Robert, Donald and Ralph Herbert.
Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday March 10, 2018 at Burns Funeral Home in Milroy, Indiana. Burial will follow at Eastbrook Cemetery. Friends may call at Burns Funeral Home on Friday March 9, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Veterans Services will be Saturday March 10, 2018 prior to the Funeral Service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Depaul Society, 1201 E. Maryland Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202. Funeral service entrusted to Burns Funeral Home, Milroy.
