Surrounded by his loved ones in the comfort of home, Fred Morris, 82, passed away March 10, 2018.

Frederick Eugene Morris was born June 3, 1935 in Madras, GA to Willard and Effie Mae Morris. After graduation Fred joined the Army and served in the 82nd Airborne division. He was a combat war veteran of the Korean War. He returned home and worked as a mechanical contractor building many hospitals across the Southeast. Anyone who met Fred instantly loved him. He loved to be surrounded by family. Fred loved to read, cook, travel, fish and spend time with family and friends and watching his Georgia Bulldogs play ball. Fred was well known for his gatherings and cooking. He had forgotten more about plumbing, HVAC, fire protection and medical gas than most knew. He owned his own construction company, his own airplane that HE flew, too many fishing boats to count, his last was a 51’ Trojan that he lived on until Hurricane Ivan. He coached football and baseball, a lot of times he would get back in town on a Friday night just in time for practice or a game. From camping in the
Arizona desert, golfing across the country to fishing in the Bahamas and coaching little league baseball, Fred lived a full and happy life.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Buddy, Jack, Mike, and Billy. He is survived by his son Kevin (Jennifer) Morris, daughter Vicki Slay, sister Barbara Hoyt, 8 grandchildren: Christopher (Alex) Morris , Matthew (Michelle) Morris, Daniel (Leilana) Morris, Stephen Slay, Zachary Morris, LindseyMorris, and Jacob Morris; and 7 great-grandchildren.

The family will hold a private ceremony to honor Fred per his request. In lieu of flowers, please contact the family.

The family would like to thank those who have been there for them during this difficult time. A special thank you to Wendy Cutaio and the Covenant Care Hospice nurses for their compassion during his final hours and his aide Tiffany Hubbard.

You will be missed Dad, but we know you are now pain free, peaceful, reading books from the biggest library you could have ever imagined, you have the best seat in the house when the Dawgs play and you are fishing in the most bountiful waters you’ve ever fished and you’re doing it with your favorite two dogs by your side.

We love you Dad!!
